The present study aims to develop a curriculum for special one-year program of ecumenical theological education in the time of globalization. Globalization challenges to change the direction of theological education in three ways. It requires a contextual theological thinking that reflects the reality of each community. Christianity is no longer the only and central religion but needs to have dialogue with other religions. And it calls us to view the world from an ecological theological perspective. Especially, theological education in Asia must reflect its reality, which can be represented by poverty and muti-religiosity.
Ecumenical theological education in Asia concerns to raise Asian leaders within Asia, instead of going abroad for study, and to teach theology in Asian context. Traditional curriculum in most Asian seminaries remain in the format of Western seminaries that is based on four-fold division. Suggested ecumenical theological education in this study is one-year special program for those who finished M.Div. program in their own country. In cooperation of Asian faculty and seminaries, this special program focuses on learning Asian contextual theology, utilizing Asian resources. The curriculum is suggested as follows:
