The continuing education for women is considered to be important in women’s policies. In Kyonggi Province, women’s continuing education in public sector are conducted by departments related to women’s policy in Provincial and 31 municipal governments. The programs are financially supported and supervised by the central and local governments. In this sense, women’s continuing educational programs are carried out by 19 Women’s Centers, 1 Kyonggi Women’s Devolopment Center, 7 Women’s Resource Development Centers, and 4 Women Workers’ Welfare Centers in Kyonggi Province.
This study aims to explore the present situation and problems of various women’s social continuing educational programs conducted by public institutions in Kyonggi Province, and then to make some suggestions to promote efficacy of the programs as follows:
Firstly, a firm system for implementing women’s continuing education in Kyonggi Province should be established. Secondly, an infra-structure for women’s educational programs should be built. Thirdly, women’s educational programs should contain womencentered perspectives and public interests, which are different from those of private continuing educational institutions. The fundamental concept of women’s continuing education is to actualize the equality of both sexes.
