The main object of the letter of credit is to provide a means of payment for goods and services supplied by a seller to a buyer, usually to facilitate dealings between merchants domiciled in different countries, by ensuring payment to the seller for the contract goods or services on the one hand and their delivery to the buyer on the other.
The letter of credit does not preserve from the fraud international trade transactions fundamentally because credits are separate transaction from the sales or other contracts and all parties concerned deal with documents in credit operations.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the fraud of trade in the letter of credit operations, to present the preventions against fraud, to diminish the possibility which Korean exporters are cheated in the fraud of trade.
