Korea has made great efforts to meet the Korean demand for electricity, to development of power resources, to build power generation and to make alternative energy since the oil crisis in 1974. In order to secure a stable power supply, Korea has established efficiently structured O&M plans for power plants, distribution and transmission, which enable systematically planned and well-organized preventive maintenance. As a result, the frequency of forced outages has greatly decreased and We have realized high -levels of reliability and performance for the power plants. Outstanding performance of it's power plants has earned us a good reputation in the power generation field worldwide.
After successfully operating its electricity business in Korea, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has set its sights on overseas markets. Philippines is the first stop; regarded as one of the most successful private power generation business in the Philippines, KEPCO was also selected as the successful bidder for the BOT (Build, Operate and Transfer) Project of Ilijan Combined-Cycle Power Plant in 1996 after a fierce bidding process with seven other international IPPs.
KEPCO is aggressively preoccupying new markets in areas such as the Middle East. In December 2005 in particular.
