Given that the questions asked by the "singular" character of the concentration camps occupy an important place in the European conscience, and that the most intimate literary works of our time are also full of these questions, we can only attribute historians to the catastrophe. This work wants to give the "literature of concentration camps" a right place. For that, it appears to be necessary for us first to regroup all diverse essays and discussions to define the "literature of the camps", of which the literary evaluation is still temporary, which permits us to have a global view on its actual state and to class it.
Rejecting the unique responses concerning the historical interpretations of the camps, this thesis proposes to see how a "literature of concentration camps" is possible and if we can derive multiple answers from it This thesis does this in three parts : after a trial of definition, we ask ourselves from the studies of parallelism and of textual and extra-textual dissemblance, if it is possible to share the horror ; finally the last chapter will be devoted to the analysis of other interpretations of this literature.
