The main purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of labor market structure in chungbuk. For the purpose, this study conducted the analysis on status, LQ index and NOHI index of labor market in chungbuk.
The decrease in population in young ages due to low fertility and the increase in population in old ages in chungbuk has steadily decreased the population in working ages. Also the rate of labor force participation in chungbuk is low relative to national average.
An important finding is that employment rate in young workers is low relative to national average and that outflow to capital area and job-major mismatch of young workers are reaching a serious level. Additionally, that employment rate in woman and old workers are lower than national average. The demand on unskilled workers in manufacturing is increasing, but the mismatch between demand and supply of worker in manufacturing is very serious.
These results indicate that the characteristics of local labor market has to be considered in formulating a plan of labor market policy in chungbuk, and that local government has to make a greater effort to create a lot of new knowledge-based job sand to solve mismatch problem between demand and supply of workers in manufacturing.
