The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of elastic resistance exercise program combine with standard exercise protocol for patients who undergone total hip arthroplasty(THA). Sixteen subjects with a mean age of 67.4 years(SD=2.9) who had total hip arthroplasty(THA) on acute phase recovery were randomly assigned to one of two exercise groups. The control groups(n=8) received standard exercise protocol(Basic Isometric and active ROM exercise), while the experimental groups(n=8) received elastic resistance exercise program combine with standard exercise protocol. Assessment of muscles strength, weight bearing ratio and pain scales were performed before, after the 4-weeks exercise intervention. The results of this study were summarized as follow: 1. After Test, Elastic resistance exercise program combine with standard exercise protocol there was significant difference to increase Dorsiflexors, Knee Extensors, Knee Flexors, Hip Extensors, Hip Flexors, Hip Abductors(p<0.001). 2. After Test, Elastic resistance exercise program combine with standard exercise protocol there was significant difference to increase Weight bearing ratio and Pain scales(p<0.001). This study shows that can be improved muscle strength, weight bearing ratio, pain scales after elastic resistance exercise program combine with standard exercise protocol. Therefore, it is recommended that elastic resistance exercise program combine with standard exercise protocol be applied in patients who are acute stage Following total hip arthroplasty(THA).
