Generally it is thought that the original Shanhaijing text was compiled during the Warring States period. However, in consideration that the Haineijing chapter which is the last chapter, does not have the north-south-east-west directions added to it unlike the previous Haijing chapters ahead of it, that it has a strange `Hainei` designation, that it does not have Liuxiu`s marking at the end of the chapter, and that the Huangdi centered lineage which first appeared in Sima Qian`s Shiji is included, the text seems to have been compiled at the earliest during the early Western Han period and later added to the Shanhaijing. Therefore, the `Joseon` of the `Joseon Chundok` of the Haineijing seems to denote Weiman Joseon.
Chundok in the Haineijing is mentioned in the same geographical unit(north of the east sea, in the corner of the north sea) close to Joseon and therefore can be seen as a polity located close to Joseon. In relation to this, in the Houhanshu East Okcho chapter it is mentioned that Hyondo commandery was first established in Okcho territory and since the characters `tian` and `xuan`, `du` and `tu` are not only similar in appearance but also in pronunciation, `Chundok` seems to be a different transcription of `Hyondo`. The exact location of Chundok seems to be the Younghun gulf area(present-day Geumya) centered in Younghung where the first Hyondo commandery was established and the Haineijing represented Weiman Joseon and Chundok as two nations symbolizing a similar geographical area.
