The study used the HSK dynamic composition corpus to analyze the sentence errors of 103 people that displayed overgeneralization among “Ba”-construction errors of 210 intermediate and advanced learners. By combining the error analysis results with the survey results, this study examined the issues in instructing “Ba”-construction revealed in the causes of error occurrence and the aspects of errors by each level of Chinese language skills of learners. Errors shown by these intermediate and advanced learners are classified into errors in misuse of sentence structures, errors in misuse of prepositions, and other errors. Errors in misuse of sentence structures refer to cases in which ‘(S)VO’ construction, Bi-constituent construction, subject-predicate constructions, serial verb construction, and double-object construction are confused with “Ba”-construction. Errors in misuse of prepositions refer to cases in which “Ba” is used instead of other prepositions(such as “Yong”, “Cong”, “Dui”, etc). The results of error analysis in the study, when combined with the survey results, proved that not only intermediate learners but also advanced learners who obtained the advanced level of HSK are not precisely aware of the two most important grammatical features of “Ba”-construction: Np from “Ba+Np” must be definite and the verb alone is not enough, but there always has to be something else after the verb. Moreover, not only intermediate learners but also advanced learners who obtained the advanced level of HSK tended to have the problem of distinguishing disposal verbs from transitive verbs.
