The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between creativity, social competence, emotional intelligence, and self-concept in 5-year-old children. The subjects of this study were 117 5-year-old children in Busan.
Data were gathered with the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking, social competence test, emotional intelligence test, and the self-concept test. A t-Test, Pearson's correlations and multiple regression analysis were used for data analysis.
The results of this study were as follows: First, significant differences were not found between boys and girls in the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking. Second, creative children were higher on social competence and emotional intelligence than less creative young children. Third, emotional intelligence was a significant contributor to predicting creativity. Finally, the limitations and implications of this study were discussed.
