Examined in this article are certain changes the Eo’yeong-cheong office had to go through around the time of the Gyun’yeok institution’s initiation. So far, studies of this particular office rather concentrated upon the political changes the office was involved in, or tried to determine how it was generally operated, but they never tried to examine the changes that happened to it because of the Gyun’yeok institution’s launch. This article tried to highlight that particular aspect of this office.
Clarified in this article is the fact that after the implementation of the Gyun’yeok institution the Eo’yeong-cheong office, which had earlier stood financially independent, came to rely upon the Gyun’yeok-cheong office at least partially in budgetary terms. It is also made clear that there were changes in percentages occupied by both rice(“Mibo”) and wood(“Mokbo”), and that the resources for “Jabo” salaries were drained, resulting in an income lost for the Eo’yeong-gun troops. Hopefully with this effort, changes the Eo’yeong-cheong office went through in the 18th century whould be more clearly understood.
