Since DeepMind"s AlphaGo defeated legendary Go player, Lee Sedol, 9-dan professional with 18 world titles, all eyes are on artificial intelligence. Mankind faces new legal issues as technology development makes it possible to realize that only been able to imagine. Human coexists with machine, which means thorny issues are arising in intellectual property law including copyright law.
In this thesis copyright issues of works derived by artificial intelligence are discussed. With technological progress, works derived by artificial intelligence could increase rapidly. It is necessary to check copyright law applied on AI. First, the thesis reviewed whether works made by AI could be protected under the current domestic and foreign copyright laws. Except the UK, it seems works made by AI could not be protected. It is also in question who is the author of the works because AI is not human being. If Korea tries to protect AI works within the copyright law, it should revision the law or prepare another form of legislation.
