The purpose of this paper is to study on the contents and Musim Seon"s performance method presented in『Jikji』. So far the most researches have been mainly focused on metal printing from the point of bibliographical view. This paper tries to understand the『Jikji』from the point of ethics educational perspectives. I am looking forward that an ethics educational approach can contribute to expand the horizons of the study about『Jikji』.
The main themes are as follows : 1) to trace into the acceptance process and its genealogy of Sen-Buddhism in the late of Koryo dynasty, 2) to analyse the main contents and system of『Jikji』compiled by Baekwoon-Kyeonghan, 3) to compare the Ganhwa-Seon performance method at Seon-Buddhism in the late of Koryo dynasty and the Musim-Seon performance method emphasized by Baekwoon in『Jikji』, 4) to understand the negation of discriminating knowledge in the Musim-Seon, and to evaluate it from the moral judgement which throughly pursuits of the discriminating knowledge in ethics.
In conclusion, there are some limits to exactly understand Baekwoon- Kyeonghan" whole thought only through the contents and performance methods written in 『Jikji』. Even though the Musim-Seon highlighted by Baekwoon- Kyeonghan in『Jikji』can provide the contemporary people with opportunity to introspect the nature of self who are harassed by anguish and delusion in the most competitive society. Through this research, I am very delighted to confirm the fact that『Jikji』is not only a precious cultural heritage of humanity, but also gives us lots of ethical wisdom.
