The purpose of this study, which is based on the previous analyses of relationships among participating in sports and cohesion of a team, is to offer basic data for the leadership and physical education in a military academy by identifying what influences cadet's participation in sports activities have on the cohesion of a team. Subjects are 210 second lieutenants who accepted a commission after graduating from Korea Military Academy in 2009. 210 surveys were distributed and some of them showing insincere or inappropriate answers were excluded and only the rest were used in the final analysis. As a research tool of this study, a questionnaire about cohesion of a team based on the inquiry scales used by Sun-Lyoung Cho(2008) and Won-Tae Byun(2008) consists of 12 questions (3 subordinate factors: individual to individual, individual to group, group to group) and the reliability is .8837. In order to analyze the collected materials, Descriptive Statistics, Frequencies, Factor, Reliability, Independent sample t-test, One-Way ANOVA and multiple recurrence analysis were implemented by using SPSS11.0.The conclusion from the material analysis based on the above processes is as follows. First, the male group shows a better team cohesion than the female group according to an analysis of how much the gender factor influences on the cohesion of a team. Second, the longer the subjects participate in sports, the better team cohesion they show in comparing both individual to individual and individual to group. Third, cadets who participate in any kinds of sports activities developed a better team cohesions than those who don't in comparing both individual to individual and group to group. Forth, the bigger the number of people involved in a specific sport activity is, the better team cohesion the participants developed in comparing both individual to individual and individual to group. That is, according to this research, group activities are more helpful to improve team cohesion than interpersonal and individual activities and absence from any kinds of sports.
