Festivals provide an opportunity to personally experience a region through diversified programs based on regional culture. They can be considered as effective events for informing visitors about the region by providing differentiated and new experiences. Festival experiences are important not only in image formation for the festival but also in the formation of images of and loyalty to the region. In particular, festival experiences may be considered very important for the differentiation of a particular festival among numerous regional festivals. An investigation of effect relationships among related variables is needed to understand festival experiences as well as recognition and behavior of visitors. Therefore, in the present study, verification through empirical analysis was attempted concerning the relationships between the festival experience and festival image, regional image, and regional loyalty. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted to visitors to the Baudeogi Festival at Anseong Namsadang, with a 272 copies being used for the analysis. According to the results of structural equation modelling, sensory experience, emotional experience, behavioral experience, and cognitive experience as the sublevel factors for festival experience had a positive effect on festival image, with cognitive experience having the largest effect. Also, festival image had a positive effect on regional image as well as regional loyalty. Based on the results, some implications concerning festival experience, establishment of festival programs, and the improvement of regional image and regional loyalty are discussed.
