The purpose of the study is to review the change of corpus as well as status of the Uzbek language in Uzbekistan, and to anticipate its future from diachronic and synchronic perspectives. Current bilingualism in Uzbekistan is resulted from Soviet language and ethnic policy. Due to Soviet language and ethnic policy, ethnic map in Uzbekistan became highly complicated, which resulted in various socio- political and ethnic problems. After the fall of Soviet Union, Uzbek government has taken series of measures for "Uzbekization" of the language, the purpose of which is to promote Uzbek language status. The government policy has brought some visible achievements in language corpus, including standardization of the language, publication of language texts and dictionaries, language attitude toward their own language, etc. Facing the nationalistic language policy of the Uzbek government, each ethnic group revealed variations in their attitude and reaction toward the policy. Russian/Slavic people considered that the language policy of the Uzbek government strengthened the Russian-Uzbek ethnic tension, and they gradually left the land or had to be unvoluntarily adapted to the current situation. On the other hand, non-Slavic people did not take the policy as serious one as Slavic people did. Koreans in Uzbekistan are now under difficult situation in terms of language attitude and its use. They have had negative language attitude toward Uzbek language, and they are not prepared to use it. In order to localize properly in Uzbekistan with ethnic identity, they need to prepare themselves for Uzbek language as soon as possible.
