This study makes an attempt to solve the conceptual problems of the interdisciplinary design education and develop a model on interdisciplinary Design Education Program. The results of this study are as the following. The goal of this program is “to cultivate a design integrated talent with a strong leadership, ability to solve problems, creative. analytical thinking skills, teamwork, communication skills, and decision making skills.” The overall structure of this Program consists largely of education of major and convergence education, of which convergence education divides into STEP 1 (Multidisciplinary), STEP 2(Interdisciplinary), and STEP 3(Transdisciplinary). STEP 1 is a level in understanding the language used in other disciplines, and learn the basic knowledge and culture. STEP 2 is a level in learning about the cultural common denominators of the diverse genres with involves the design major, and is carried out through workshop and seminar sessions. STEP 3 is a level where barriers of design related disciplines are knocked down, and an unrestrained pan-academic collaborative education is executed, in which a specific subject of interest is selected and carried out through a project. The common subjects are learning the culture of humanities that is fundamental for intellects living in this current society, and involves mandatory subjects in humanities.
