The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of 16-week Functional Training (FT) on the body composition and physical fitness of middle-aged post-menopausal women and provide basic materials for the development of health improvement programs. For this, a total of 20 middle-aged post-menopausal women living in Seocho-gu, Seoul were recruited, and they were divided into the training group and the control group according to the physical fitness factors required for each subject; the changes of each factor according to the training period (before training, 8 weeks later and 16 weeks later) and the group were verified using the two-way ANOVA with repeated measure. After analyzing with the statistics program, Window spss 23.0, the following results were obtained: The middle-aged post-menopausal women showed decreased percent body fat and body fat (p<.001) after the 16-week FT, while fat free mass increased (p<.001). The changes in the physical fitness factors had significant effects on the both groups (p<.001), and the training group showed improved measurements compared to the control group. Therefore, FT is considered an effective exercise program for middle-aged post-menopausal women that helps improve body composition and physical fitness and is expected to provide useful basic data in developing health management programs.
