This article was written for the purpose of analyzing the semantic features of the ‘V+(de/bu)+guolai’ structure which is commonly used in modern Chinese. The semantic features of ‘guolai’ were analyzed and the conditions under which ‘V’ enters this structure were analyzed. We searched ‘guolai’ on the Beijing Language and Culture University’s corpus site(http://bcc.blcu.edu.cn). And we extracted the use of ‘V+(de/bu)+guolai’. Among them, examples of high frequency were discussed as subjects of the study of the this article. The results of the above analysis are summarized as follows.
First, ‘guolai’ in the ‘V+(de/bu)+guolai’ structure has various meanings. This represents the ‘path’ meaning of a spatial or abstract moving event. The type of process it generally represents as a verb is a perfective extended event.
Secondly, ‘V’ is combined with ‘guolai’ through the transformation of one’s common process type and used in ‘V+(de/bu)+guolai’ construction. The structure’s ‘V’ also confirms that it can be used by various verbs.
