In this study, through the proverbs related to ‘dog’ among Japanese proverbs, we reviewed and considered the Japanese consciousness. It is thought that the Japanese “dog” image also contributed to the generation of dog󰠏related proverbs in various cultural backgrounds such as intimacy, strong solidarity, and anthropomorphism. The basic recognition and sentiment of the Japanese ‘dog’ is summarized as follows: ① intimate with humans ② amiable and rich in emotions ③ strong in loyalty and ④ as an animal that builds a flock. “Dogs”,which can be said to have the best communication capabilities with humans among Japanese animals, have been raised as livestock since the Neolithic period. As the time passed down, the collective consciousness was recognized as one of the unique nationalities of the Japanese, and at the same time, the strong connection and intimacy between the “dog” and humans are eventually revealed as the dog's loyalty. This is thought to have evolved into a relationship that naturally shared the “WA” culture through a strong anthropomorphic psychology through an anthropomorphic process. Through the review and analysis of Japanese proverbs related to “dogs” in this study, the conclusion is that “proverbs show differences in nationality”. This is especially true in the sense that there are many proverbs that originate from the relationships between humans and humans and dogs.
