Due to the COVID-19 crisis, which has driven the world to a pandemic declaration, all businesses are changing to non-face-to-face, so many changes are expected in the existing way of working. Interior design will not be an exception. In this context, it is necessary to study how the design method should change in interior design in the future. In this regard, by looking at VR programs for interior design design, which is a recent issue, and looking at examples of domestic and international spatial design design using them, we will try to infer future architectural and interior design applications using VR.
The research method and scope in this study are as follows. First, the definition of VR and the development process of VR technology will be investigated through literature research and prior research. Second, through information retrieval and literature research, we research representative design-designed VR programs that are commonly used worldwide, and identify the characteristics of each program to find out the current state of VR technology. Third, we will look at examples of design design using VR of global interior and architectural design companies, and based on this, we will try to infer the direction of future interior design using virtual reality. As a result of comparing and analyzing the characteristics of existing VR programs and understanding the characteristics of using VR programs of world-class spatial design companies, it is possible to use VR easily by linking a simple plug-in type VR program to the existing 3D program. It is used in design. Currently, it is actively used in conjunction with VR programs at all stages of the design process. The scope of VR and XR is expanded to include virtual reality as well as augmented reality in the design process for efficient proposals at the design stage, and each company has developed a unique VR program to establish the design identity pursued. By developing a VR-only mobile app, it provides customers with a VR environment that allows efficient interactions free from temporal and spatial constraints. The currently used VR technology has infinite potential for spatial design, and ultimately, this technology not only shortens unnecessary physical processes in the design stage, but also allows customers and designers to efficiently experience all spaces and provide immediate feedback. Provides possible virtual environment. As a result, it can be inferred that design is possible through sufficient understanding and interaction between the customer and the designer beyond the conventional design proposal method of simply confirming the design.
For interior design through such a smooth interaction, it is necessary to improve the intuitive interface for users and complement and develop VR technology that includes functions to improve various synesthesia experiences away from simple visual experiences.
