This study aims to analyze the relationship between character education and citizenship education based on a network view. They are direct related to achieving the essential goals of education: desirable personality & civic character. However, they have recently changed their relationship in the political and social landscape of our society due to external needs rather than the inherent importance of education. This study points out that character & citizenship education research trend was node-oriented view, and as an alternative, it suggests the network view. The two areas will inevitably have overlapping zones in terms of content or format due to the education goals of desirable personality development and attitude & skill for citizens. Network view provides a novel framework for interpreting these overlapping zones. The analysis found a shared node that constitutes character education and citizenship education, and they education can be distinguished by the differences in networks drawn by shared nodes. In particular, they have different sub-networks around the concept of competence, and civic-character education, which has recently been discussed in the moral education field, could be identified through a network view.
