Report Errors
This study seeks to promote the expansion of media archaeological art by interpreting the works of 3 contemporary artists using the “media archaeology” method. Media archaeological art is media art that pursues the excavation of past media and its aesthetic use in new ways. Erkki Huhtamo and Jussi Parikka have explored media archaeology in terms of artistic practice. They show the performative nature of media archaeology and the new realm of media art. This study points out media archaeology artists and explores the potential for sustainable expansion of art. This study looks into the “optical devices” in the past and analyzes contemporary experiments with those devices from the perspective of media archaeology. Interpreting the works using the media archaeology framework will hold significance for richer interpretation of the works and expand methodologies for artistic creation.
