Women’s handicrafts, such as embroidery, needlework, and knots, have been regarded by women as skillful. What has been used in everyday life as a standard for expressing decorative purpose, class and identity for adding beauty has now become a traditional culture of our country to be preserved and recorded. It is acknowledged as one of the traditional arts of traditional crafts and is receiving the policy protection and management of the state. Women make efforts to become national intangible cultural properties with their handicraft techniques. However, women did not start handicrafts from the very beginning to become cultural properties. Handicrafts were the only technology given to women who had lost their education at the time of economic development. It was a means to be a given work and expert to take responsibility for living. I was able to make a huge contribution to the economy economically with the profits earned from handicrafts, and gave me pride that I was playing the role of the best for women. Women who have been doing handicrafts for a lifetime begin to give meaning to handicrafts beyond the level of their expertise. The handicraft itself develops as a means of proving the value of women’s own existence by adding the characteristics of female tradition crafts which learns skill to grandmother and mother. And the women turned to the highest peak to reach their grandmother and mother’s family tradition and to revive their souls, and the intangible cultural assets recognized by the state became the subject of attention. There is a background factor in this change of thinking that handicraft is newly established as a traditional cultural heritage of Korea. This research is significant in that women’s handicrafts can be recognized as crafts through the process and show how women reacted and practiced in the process of change.
