The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of early childhood teachers’ teacher efficacy between work environment and job satisfaction. The subjects of the study were 508 child care center and kindergarten teachers in Gyeongsangbuk-do and Daegu metropolitan city. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. The results were as follows: First, teacher efficacy and work environment perceived by early childhood teacher had a direct effect on job satisfaction. Second, work environment perceived by early childhood teacher had a direct effect on teacher efficacy. Third, the relationship between work environment perceived by early childhood teacher and job satisfaction showed partial mediation effect of teacher efficacy. The results suggest that the teacher efficacy of early childhood teachers not only affect directly their job satisfaction but also exerts indirect effects by mediating the relationship between work environment and job satisfaction. These findings need to be considered in developing programs and policies to improve the perceived job environment, teacher efficacy, and job satisfaction of early childhood teachers.
