This study analyzes the characteristics of collective unconsciousness by combining Carl Jung’s collective unconsciousness with animation works. On this basis,it analyzes 〈Nezha: Birth of the Demon Child〉 focusing on three archetypes of Jung’s collective unconsciousness, namely “Persona, Shadow, Anima/Animus”. Through analysis and research, it can be concluded that the reason why animation works can arouse the audience’s resonance and emotion lies in the common prototype of human psychology. 〈Nezha: Birth of the Demon Child〉 is produced on the basis of the traditional myth 〈The Investiture of the Gods〉 with a fusion of several important prototype features in it. By showing Nezha’s constant integration and adjustment of personality to reach the self-realization,it can be known that Chinese animation character design tries to seek the resonating with the audience from the inner world of the character. Therefore, by analyzing the shape, color and action of the characters, it can be confirmed that the shaping of the animated characters is widely influenced by the Collective Unconsciousness. Besides, by analyzing the prototype function and influence of collective unconsciousness in other Chinese cartoon works, it can also be concluded that prototypes can be used alone or in combination to shape the inner world of different characters. In addition, it can be confirmed that Jung’s Collective Unconsciousness Theory will provide variable possibilities for Chinese character creation in the future.
