Dandy acquires an identity of distinction and uniqueness based on elegant attire, shining ornaments, delicate language and unusual attitude. Here, the important thing in sublimating dandy into an aesthetic existence is a mask as a shared medium that reveals and hides. The mask that determines the existence of dandy first embodies dandy's external plan to become a work of art, secondly, creates a distance between the original dandy and what he looks like as if the theater actor had a certain distance from the audience through theatrical form, and thirdly, realizes a chemical combination between dandy's existence and existence. In particular, dandy's mask distinguishes between political dandy and dandy's politics. Dandy, who has failed to maintain a distance from society like Eugene Sue or Lord Byron, is a "political dandy". On the other hand, Barbey d’Aurevilly or Charles Baudelaire, who utilized "political power" rather than "politics" by allowing the mask he used to escape from the task of reproduction, maximized its power by delicately utilizing the function of the mask. Therefore, masks are the driving force behind political power, and are a key factor in preventing misuse by distinguishing political dandy from political dandy.
