The purpose of this study is to review the problems seen in the current life sports instructor level 2 certification acquisition process by exploring the experiences of non-physical majors in acquiring the second-level license as a sports instructor, and in addition, non-physical education that shows a continuously increasing trend in the field of sports for all. It aims to enhance the professionalism and reliability of life sports instructors majoring in the field.
In order to achieve the purpose of the study, 6 participants were selected, 3 of whom are currently working in the fitness industry as fitness instructors and managers, and the remaining 3 are private academy educators, public elementary school English teachers, and incumbent actors, respectively, for qualitative research techniques. One of the in-depth interviews was used as an analysis tool. The results of the research are presented as follows.
First, the problem of sports coach certification without barriers to entry, second, the problem of optional subjects for the written test and on-the-job training, and third, the problem of lack of professionalism in sports coach qualification, and improvement of the educational system to improve professionalism is required.
As a proposal for research, we conclude this study by presenting policy suggestions regarding changes in the qualification requirements system for sports instructors, designation of required subjects in the written examination, management of field practice education, qualification renewal system for professionalism enhancement, and administrative management of sports instructors.
