In contemporary society, appearance is increasingly viewed as a means of personal competitiveness, with interest in physical appearance cutting across various age groups. Adolescents, in particular, tend to be more concerned about their looks due to their social development and active engagement in social activities and relationships. Given that adolescents spend a significant amount of time in uniform-mandated environments, hairstyles become an essential way for them to express their individuality and distinguish themselves from their peers. This study aims to investigate how beauty consciousness affects the selection attributes of hair salons among high school students. It also seeks to explore the relationship between beauty consciousness and hair salon selection attributes through the lens of consumer value. An online survey was conducted with high school students in a metropolitan area, yielding a total of 242 valid responses that were analyzed using SPSS 28.0. The results revealed several key findings: First, among the hair salon selection attributes, the functional value of consumer value significantly positively influenced the reliability factor, while all consumer value factors positively impacted the facility and atmosphere factor. Second, both the functional value and novelty value of consumer value had a significant positive effect on the responsiveness factor. Third, the emotional value, functional value, and novelty value of consumer value all significantly positively influenced the expertise factor. This study is significant as it provides practical implications and guidance for enhancing competitiveness and developing marketing strategies within the hair industry and hair salons, ultimately shaping future trends among youth.
