A status quo analysis of Ain Shams University translation curriculum and needs analysis, published in Shalaby (2022, 2023) resulted in a better understanding of the related challenges. The purpose of this study is to propose improvements in the translation curriculum. These propositions aim at enhancing the translation competence of Arab students majoring in Korean Language, especially the textual competence. To address the issues associated with the translation curriculum and align with Ain Shams University’s ultimate objective of graduating professional translators, based on previous results, the proposed improvements are articulated around textuality as a framework. The current curriculum presents two main problems: first, the lack of clear criteria for text selection as part of the training material; it consequently leads to arbitrary selections by instructors; second, the translation process is not systematically centered around texts or the essence of the process itself. As remedial solutions, this study suggests implementing a systematic approach for text selection and a structured methodology for the translation process. These suggestions are designed based on textuality and translation competence to enhance the quality of the current translation curriculum and consecutively improve the students’ translation competencies.
