This paper compares the spirituality of two renowned Christian educators and leaders - John Amos Comenius (1592-1670) and Ellen G. White (1827-1915). After a thumbnail account of Comenius and White, the author sketches his background in relation to the topic. Three potential areas of misconception sourrounding Ellen G. White and the Seventh-day Adventist church are briefly addressed. The nature of Christian spirituality is described as life in the Trinity. Its characteristics include knowing God as Father, being Christocentric, and experiencing life in the Spirit. To know God as Father entails a life of prayer, an awareness of God's sovereignty, and having a sense of God's continual presence. To be Christocentric involves following Jesus, a union in love, and pilgrimage. To experience life in the Spirit means growing in grace and knowledge, sharing in community and fellowship, and living a life that practically manifests the fruit of love. The spirituality of John Amos Comenius and Ellen G. White is compared on the basis of these characteristics.
