In this treatise, it has observed that how Paul who had used be a persecutor of Christianity became a believer in God, and how he evangelized people through the pagan world after he had changed. As his conversion had surprised Christians, it is possible that a college student who does not believe in God can also be transformed. Although, they do not yet realize the necessity of the Gospel it is clear that they too are people who also need God's forgiveness and salvation. I want to propose some suggestions through Paul's conversion and mission in order to evangelize to young college students who do not realize their burden of sins and are suffered from it.
First, it should be accepted that mission is God's work; it is not something that a person can carry out. God leads people who do not put faith in Him with His own peculiar ways toward His world. We do not know His ways, however, God accomplishes it even miraculously if He wants to do. When God had summoned Paul, He used the supernatural. There should be an anticipation about possibilities of the occurrence of miracles coming from God among a secular college student today. We should believe that whoever they are can enter into the God's truth through His wills and do not give up to reach them.
Second, we should follow God. It is impossible to accomplish a college Christianization without prayer and quiet moments of meeting God. Paul went to Asia instead of Europe following God's command. Mission is not a process just making believers who attend church on Sunday but producing God's people. Lydia strongly entreated to Paul saying "If you consider me a believer in the Lord, come and stay at my house" and let him stay in her house. The Good News should be proclaimed with strong resolution to produce God's people. We should not focus on converting the largest number of people to Christianity. But if we should have strong mind to truly bring even one person to God; this act pleases God more than a thousand half believers. It is because that the one person who possesses this strong mind can accomplish enormous work. Peter Wagner defines the growth of church as the nurturing people to become responsible believers. It is meaningless of mission which does not follow God, and the soul which does not have relationship with God.
Third, the Good News should be proclaimed by the power of God. Preaching the Good New is not a begging to get believers. Their lives can be changed, their problems can be solved through the Good News. Therefore, preaching the Good news should be carried by the power from God. This power is our privileges and right which God grant us.
It is not only the power present when Paul cast demon out by the name of the Christ, or opening the door of the dungeon through praising but also when Paul proclaimed "Believe in God" confidently and inspired him. We should proclaim the word of God with courage.
Fourth, as a Christian, we should be distinguished from the secular through our lives. We should prove the words of God through our actions, not only preaching it just spitting the words from the mouth. The Good News can be efficiently proclaimed through our lives having full of joy all the time with God, giving praise and thanks-giving, and overcoming all hardships with pray and receiving message from God. Non believers should not be able to say "There is no difference between you, a Christian, and me who is non-Christian, why do I need to believe in God?"
If we do not compromise with injustice, not seek only own advantages but we live with love and devote our lives, many souls will come back to the Lord.
At last, whatever difficulties confront us, this is the way of preaching the Good News; if it is God's desire, we should willingly accept it and preaching it.
Only a person who has deeply experienced God's grace can perform this duty. He or she who has experience the grace of God that forgives outrageous sinner and grant the salvation cannot help speaking out the love of God. It neither be done by intellectual knowledge nor by compulsion from authority. There should be a passion of salvation. It is necessary to realize that mission is the most important duty above all things in the world. It cannot be ignored because of its accompanied hard work or excusing lack of time. It should be realized that it is a fruit of affliction that yields through love and dedication. The word of God cannot spread without sincere efforts of Christians.
The Chaplain room is right at the front line in mission, however, it can easily turn as a class instead of preaching God and neglect on the duty. It seems that there is not enough time in 2 years-community college to cultivate Christians. If there is a one's own faith like Paul's which came from experiencing touching by God and passion of salvation, it is the very place to preaching God's word most efficiently. I believe that if we totally depend on God and courageously proclaim the God's words with following His lead and be a role model who shows God's characteristics, although there is hardships, many people will return back to the Lord.
