The Pusan Metropolitan Area faces a serious problem stemming from shortage of available urban land resources. This study aims to investigate available land resources for housing in Pusan Metropolitan Area by threshold analysis method. Most software and databases for this study was developed by the authors.
Major findings of this study are as follows : 1. Housing land development and urban renewal at inner city : These ideas refer to programs intended to effect a proper functioning of a city and rational and efficient land use. But in terms of program implementationer, planning, acquisition and distribution of property, relocation and protection of living of relocatees and financing, housing land development at inner city has some difficulties.
2. Housing land development at suburban area : To measure the land potentiality in Pusan Metropolitan Area applies the threshold analysis method. The. results can be summarized as follows : Available land resources for residential use in Pusan are in the acute shortage because of its topographic condition and Greenbelt. But it was found that several sites in Kinhaegun and Yansangun, the suburban area beyond the city administrative boundary, are proper for housing development.
