Lim Wha(1908 ~ 1953)'s life becomes an issue not because of the importance of poetry in Korean Literature but because of his trace of living in Korean history. He reacts honestly on the problem of the Times. And his honesty leads him to death. His trace of living is the standard type of intelligence's life in that country at that times. His tragic life is ours that live in this separated country. Therefore his problem is ours in these days and his question is still effective.
In this Essay, I studied Lim Wha's poetry of romanticism in connection with his romanticism that he claims in 1934~6. Also I researched his poetry from his early writing to a collection of poems {Heonhaetan}.
The sentimentalism of the early writing [What looking for] and [At night] is a clue of the aspect of his romanticism that lately revealed in his works. In the poetry of 'a short piece of epic', his sentimentalism and depression in the early writing changed into the feeling of making love. Lim Wha's sentimental poem received great commendation from Kim Geegin who interprets Lim wha's poem gives deep emotion to the people of that times. And then Lim Wha becomes a great popular poet, at the same time he take notice of the literatry world.
But he suffered the First and the Second Arrest Movement, the members of his organization are mostly arrested or hide away. The network of system faces the crisis of collapse. And Lim Wha claims 'the great spirit of romanticism'. This is desperate action for reconstruction of the organ.
Lim Wha was great poet who react honestly on present problem. But he didn't settled any land He wandered between real world and ideal world and then he fall down the crevice. But his wander itself is still an issue for us and his trace of truly life is too.
