The purpose of this study is to describe the poetic world of Simoonhak School(especially focused on Kim Young-Rang and Park Yong-Cheol) It is an attempt to redefine their poetic stature in Korean literary history and to search for the present meaning of their poetic consciousness.
They made a positive and willing effort to approach poetry intrinsically. The terms of 'Transfiguration' that is mentioned by ParkYong-Cheol, means dissolution of literary experience. Kim Young-Rang's poetic world that is based on the Transfiguration, presented the private point of the view which is shows the concurrence of lyric self. The negation about the social situation made them regarded themselves as an aesthetic subject and their search for the literary self consciousness made them pursued the purity of lyric self. In order to establish the pure self on the territory of their poetic world, they attempted to negate the social modernity. This process was an aesthetic resistance and criticism to the negativity and sterility of Korean modernity. The verification of Kim Young-Rang and Park Yong-Cheol was showed the attitude of dis-identificaion against the modern world. By their attitude of dis-identificaion which excludes the outer world in order to preserve the identity of the aesthetic world, they tried to overcome the modernistic time. Simoonhak school presented a new field and a new direction in modern Korean poetry by their poetic consciousness and attitude. Their poetry established modern poetics which is meaningful not only in 1930's but also nowadays.
