This paper presents self-correcting features of Korean EFL learners and their relevance to L2 oral proficiency. In an attempt to explore the significance of language form awareness and its impact on the development of L2 oral proficiency, self-correcting features were identified and compared among different L2 proficiency groups. Subjects were 34 sixth graders attending J primary school in Seoul, and they were given a series of elicitation tasks. To assess their oral language proficiency, a standardized oral test was administered. Based upon the test results, they were grouped into; low intermediate, intermediate, high intermediate and advanced. The result of interlanguage analysis show that learners in the intermediate level and above self-corrected some interlanguage features during their task, with or without corrective feedback. Low intermediate learners had difficulty noticing the language form although interactive feedback was given during task. from these results, it is implied that EFL learners, even at a primary level, begin to be conscious, or aware of target language form as they reach a certain level. Or their language development might be possible as they gradually pay attention to the language form. From these findings, pedagogical implications are briefly discussed.
