Attachment theory has served as a useful typology of parent-child relationships. Attachment theory places an emphasis on the development of early attachment in the primary caregiver-child relationship that becomes the basis for later socialization as well as for later relationships with others. The purpose of this systematic review of literature was to provide a resource that summarized: a infant/toddler attachment research trend in Korea and the effect size of the associations between infants" attachment security and developmental outcomes. Results showed that both infant-mother attachment security and infant-teacher attachment security were significantly associated with infant developmental outcomes(i.e., cognitive, language, and social adjustment). The findings of this study suggest further research on the effects of infants" multiple attachment relationships in relation to infant development.
