This paper studies the one-to-many equivalence phenomenon shown in translating the English verb bless in the Bible into Korean, in which the verbs are realized mainly in three verbs: pokulcwuta, chwukpokhata, chanyanghata. The study explores why this phenomenon occurs and aims to provide a formal analysis. To collect data, two English versions of the Bible (KJV and NIV) and one Korean version of the Bible (kyayyekkyayceng) were examined. It turns out that the feature of [+human] does not suffice to account for the data. For this particular text, where translators meant to be sensible to divinity, I suggest employing a feature of [+divine]. The study reveals that the [+divine] and [+human] features of agents and themes play a significant role in choosing a verb in the Bible in Korean. Also, as shown in exceptional cases, animacy of themes, i.e., [+/-animate] strongly affects the choice of verb and even changes the sentence to causative construction, which has not been noticed anywhere else. The current study can be a meaningful addition to this research topic.
