The purpose of this study was to explore what effect designing 3D art has upon children’s reasoning ability and creativity, and to provide basic data for development of designing 3D art for improving reasoning ability and creativity. The subjects of this study were a total of 50 children, 25 children who were in two 5 year old classes (A, B) in L private kindergarten located in Busan City. The Korean version of Raven Intelligence Test(Lim Ho-chan, 2004) was used for the children’s reasoning ability test, and Kim Sang-yoon’s(2006) tangram creativity test was used for the creativity test. Experiments were carried out for the experimental group of 25 children, and the comparison group experienced the 3D art activity without any design activity. The collected data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and independent sample t-test utilizing SPSS 22.0 program. The results of research questions set up for this study are as follows. First, it is found that there was a significant difference in the reasoning ability scores of children who experienced designing 3D art (t=3.314, p=.002). Second, it is found that there was a significant difference in the creativity scores of children who experienced designing 3D art (t=6.773, p=.000). To comprehensively summarize the results above, this study demonstrates that designing 3D art has a positive effect on child’s reasoning ability and creativity development. Therefore, designing 3D art can be a positive educational tool for promoting child’s reasoning ability and creativity development, and this study expects effective values in the field of child education.
