Recently our K-beauty industry has been growing steadily as part of the service sector through increasing cultural diversity and interest in value of life. People are focusing on wellbeing including physical health and appearance. To carry out this study, a structured questionnaire was administered to hair salon and makeup store employees in Cheongju. Data analyses are based on SPSS.21.0 and 287 questionnaires were collected. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, in order to confirm the sub-factor structure of each variable, the work environment is divided into working condition and working environment. LMX and turnover intention were a single factor. Second, as a correlation analysis of all factors, the higher level of the job environment, the lower the turnover intention at LMX.
Third, age, career, working conditions and LMX have a statistically significant effect on turnover intention for hair salon employees. Last, career, wage, working conditions and LMX have statistically significant effects on turnover intention for make-up store employees. This study examines the factors affecting turnover intention in beauty industry areas (hair shop and make-up). There is an academic significance that it provides basic data for establishing customized measures which could prevent the intention to leave. Furthermore, this study allows researchers to utilize differentiated methods by type.
