The Fourth Industrial Revolution brings about many changes in entire society. In the field of education, the usefulness of the content-oriented curriculum for the delivery of knowledge had been questioned and the direction of education has been changed to competency building. Academics and sites are working on research virtuously and efforts to meet this new educational paradigm. Backward Design often referred to as an alternative to teaching and learning design methods for competency building. Since it was introduced in 1998, the revised Backward Design has been introduced in 2011 and 2012, complementing it to be more suitable for arts and function-related subjects and to enhance the integrity among goals, evaluations and learning activities. The 2015 Revised Curriculum includes core competences and subject competences which was developed based on core competences. It is clear that the curriculum aims competency building as its ultimate goal. Therefore, the revised Backward Design would help to imply the purpose and significance pursued by the 2015 Revised Curriculum. In this study, teaching and learning deign model is developed through modifying the newly introduced Backward Design in accordance with the 2015 Revised Art Curriculum. This model would guide teachers at the site to design an unit plan to promote an authentic understanding of learners.
