The international community’s efforts and regulations are needed to curb greenhouse gas emissions, which are the main causes of global climate change. International organizations and local communities have continued to establish policies and legislative activities under this situation. By adopting the Paris Agreement in 2015, the carbon emissions of the shipping industry should be reduced by 40% compared to 2008 until 2030, and at least 70% until 2050. To reach these targets, the domestic and overseas shipbuilding industries are focusing on the development of eco-friendly ships which are able to reduce the fuel consumption as much as possible by reducing hull resistance and improving engine propulsion efficiency.
