The objevtive of the present study is to investigate the influence of a creative dance class applied with storytelling upon self-expression ability, empathy ability, and peer relationship of middle school students. For this objective, 207 second graders (97 male students, 110 female students) were selected from B middle school in Jeollabuk-do for the experimental group and 210 first graders (96 male students, 114 female students) for the control group. The collected data were put to the frequency analysis using SPSS (ver 26) and AMOS programs. To confirm the internal consistency and validity of the items used for questionnaire, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson"s correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed as well.
As a result, it was found, first, that the experimental group manifested significant differences in self-expression ability, empathy ability and peer relationship after a creative dance class to which storytelling was applied.
Second, it was learned from the correlation analysis of self-expression ability, empathy ability and peer relationship that there was a significant positive correlation between the groups after a creative dance class to which storytelling was applied.
Third, it was made clear that empathy ability played a partial mediating role in self-expression and peer relationship after a creative dance class to which storytelling was applied.
