This study aims to analyze the use of formulaic expression by constructing an academic Korean corpus based on the argumentative texts produced by intermediate academic Korean learners. The results are as follows: First, 2337 cumulative frequencies and 55 types of formulaic expression were used in the corpus of academic Korean learners consisting of narrative-evaluation text, criticism-dispute text, problem-solving text, and comparison-contrast text; Second, as a result of comparing and analyzing the corpus of academic Korean learners (this study) and of academic native, 13 expression items were found in common among the top 30 expression types; Third, regardless of the discourse structure of the text, there are one formulaic expression that are used across multiple texts, and the other formulaic expression that are used only in specific texts. Statistical confirmation of this part through a larger corpus will be resolved in subsequent study.
