This study presented the directions of invention for further engagement of preschoolers with disabilities in inclusive settings. By 2016, 36 studies were selected for the analysis of research on the intervention of engagement of preschoolers with disabilities. First, we analyzed the concepts of engagement into 3 parts such as 1) operational definitions, 2) activity patterns, 3) types of engagement, then investigating them. Secondly, the components of engagement were classified into 8 sections; 1) review of study, 2) experimental design, 3) participants, 4) measures of engagement behavior, 5) Independent variables, 6) dependent variables, 7) intervention providers, 8) support types. The result suggest that the engagement is defined out of regard for the practiced behaviors of the special needs preschoolers who are interacting with their environment under the comprehensive concept that participation should be an approach to the opportunities and obstacles. The measurement of engagement was conducted, primarily, by dichotomous code like engagement and non-engagement. Also, Intentional instruction strategies were shown as teachers’ supports and visual aids and positive behavior supports. In conclusion, The effects of adult use of systematic, naturalistic instructional strategies within an embedded instruction context on child engagement were examined. It is shown that the comprehensive engagements including social involvement and participation in activities should be done so that preschoolers with disabilities may take part in the world. Furthermore, it is necessary to adopt the systematic criteria which analyze the individual characteristics and environmental factors presented through ICF model.
