Chinese idioms contain the wisdom and lessons of mankind and deeply project the unique cultural DNA of Chinese people which is differentiated from other ethnic groups. Study on the background of each Chinese idiom and the unique Chinese cultural characteristics embedded in it can broaden our understanding of China. A systematic and in-depth understanding of Chinese idioms will provide us accurate and necessary information about China in the increasingly complex Korea-China relations.
Chinese people"s various views on life and the world, and even the prototype of their culture are well expressed in Chinese idioms. In this article, I have classified them into 7 categories including view of living, crisis management, war strategy, view of favor and spite, view of talent, attitude toward learning and view of desire, and analyzed respectively. It was found that those Chinese idioms classified into each category confine Chinese people"s thoughts and ideas intact related to each category and demonstrate their wisdom and strategies for humans and the world vividly.
A multilateral and in-depth understanding of Chinese idioms will not only be an effective analysis of China but will also help us to reflect on ourselves in the increasingly complex and diversified relationship between Korea and China. At the same time, it will be of great help to nurture our knowledge on humanities and to broaden our view on people and the world.
