Seoul City Wall which has been constructed since King Taejo of Joseon Dynasty continuously renovated to late Joseon, has various construction methods of ancient rampart of Korea. In the wall foundations of Seoul City Wall at hilly and mountainous sections, the same method of Baekje stone fortress was observed. And the wooden anchors, driven deep into the earth to help increase the bearing capacity of the soil were used also in the groundwork of Pungnabtoseong in Seoul and Naseong in Buyeo dating from the Baekje period. Seoul City Wall showed that some were built with stone on both sides, and some others built with stone only on the outer side in the so-called naetak style according to their topography. The naetak style was mainly used at Baekje stone fortress, and the layer covered with earth at some sections was also founded at the outer section on Pungnabtoseong. The various sections of Seoul City Wall were excavated ranging from the reign of Taejo to those of Sejong, Sukjong etc, there were different construction techniques and materials according to their time of construction. Especially the construction methods after the reign of Sejong are similar to those of Baekje stone fortress. At Seoul City Wall, the stamped earth-built inner side of naetak style wall was founded, the stamped earth method is a typical ancient engineering technique which was generally used at the construction of earthen wall and stone fortress of Baekje period.
