With the progression of urbanization, various urban problems are arising. In an effort to resolve these problems, Seoul city has implemented a citizen complaint platform and has made various efforts. However, despite these efforts, the number of complaints continues to increase. Recently, a growing interest in the living environment leads to an increase in the proportion of complaints related to cleanliness and environment among all complaints. Against this backdrop, this study aims to analyze the urban characteristics that influence cleanliness and environmental complaints and to provide policy implications for reducing complaints, using data of the “Seoul Smart Report” provided by the Seoul city government. The spatial scope of this study is limited to Seoul, and the analysis is conducted at the administrative district level. The analytical method employed in this study is spatial regression analysis, considering the spatial characteristics inherent in the complaint data. The results of the analysis reveal significant variables that influence cleanliness and environmental complaints, including reconstruction and redevelopment area density, single-person households, population of residents aged 40-60, official land prices, and the number of bus routes. Through this study"s analysis, the need for improved management of reconstruction and redevelopment areas and tailored responses to the complaint demands of different age groups have been identified.
