Hwang Sun-won started to write his poem from 1930, when he was 16 years old, and he had written 104 poems, 104 short stories, I middle-length novel, 7 long-length novels until 1992, when he was 78 years old. These creative works make him a great literary man who protect pure literature against the difficult times of Korean modern history. He is also called master of creative spirit because of his extraordinary personal character which can be seen in his literary works.
His literary works are based on the humanity and dignity, and he had kept those values till the end of his lifetime. He also kept the mother language under the inspection of Japanese imperialism during the colonial period, even when his works couldn't be read and published. That is the reason that his literary works could keep and bring back humanity and dignity, and also the reason we can appreciate him as a romantic humanist.
