In order to understand the cultural attributes of Korean college students, collectivism and individualism are contrasted in terms of self-perception, attribution, emotion, cognition, motivation, and interpersonal relationship.
In Korean students, recently, the traditional collectivistic attributes have disappeared. However, the individualistic attributes have not yet been built. The complexity and economic development of Korean society encourage them to incorporate the individualistic attributes.
In order to grow their effectiveness, the cultural transition forces the college counselors or Christian counselors to keep confidentiality, teach how to express and control emotion, teach how to control environment, focus on traits rather than effort, grow tolerance, and increase cultural insights.
